Remember bonus levels on Street Fighter 2 where you had to smash up a car, or deal with falling barrels? (If you don't then you really should stop reading this and invest some time playing it.) Well this second post today is a bit like that, lucky, lucky you! This is a free tip to help keep one foot in reality, be that checking the arrogance, or having a little bit more confidence or belief.
Imagine life is a scale ranging from all-out disaster, the cat gets run over, split your pants, the absolute worst possible outcomes at one end, and the absolute best outcomes on the other end, you know, the lottery win, the 100% on a test, cat has kittens blah blah. Get it? Good. Now I'm not saying these extremes don't happen since they do. But extremes is exactly what they are, and day-to-day, generally don't occur. Play the odds. This means for the most part, life lands in the middle. It might not feel exactly like that, but that's how it is, really. Try remembering that when you're thinking in circles, continuously getting to the same, disastrous conclusion again and again and again. Remind yourself the negative conclusion you've arrived at, for the most part, probably hasn't happened before, or is likely to happen now, or in the future. Things may not be great at times, but you'll still wake up in the morning with a brand new, squeaky clean, fresh start to try things differently if they didn't work today.
You're welcome.
